Terms of Use
1. Provider
Briefklar is provided by:
Bernard Matthew Sharp
Postal address: see the imprint
Email: hallo@briefklar.ch
These terms apply to the Briefklar apps for iPhone and Android, the Briefklar browser extension for Chrome and Edge, and this website. The Android app and the browser extension are in preparation and not yet available.
2. iPhone app: Apple's licence agreement
For the iPhone app, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps (Licensed Application End User License Agreement) applies together with these terms.
3. What Briefklar is
Briefklar explains letters automatically: what a letter is about, what to do and by when. The explanations are general information and not legal advice. Briefklar can make mistakes – for example, misread a date or an amount, or misunderstand a letter.
Always check the original letter and its deadlines; what the letter says is what counts. If you are unsure, ask the sender or an advice centre.
4. Briefklar Pro and prices
In the apps, 3 full explanations are free where the device's built-in AI is available (see section 5). For more, there is Briefklar Pro. Prices are in Swiss francs including VAT, as shown in the App Store or on Google Play. Currently:
- CHF 3.99 a month
- CHF 24.99 a year (1 week free for new yearly subscribers)
- CHF 49.00 once (no subscription)
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them: for the iPhone app in your Apple Account settings, at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; for the Android app in Google Play. Payment is handled by Apple or Google. Refunds follow Apple's or Google's rules.
The browser extension is free.
5. Availability
Some features depend on your device: on the iPhone, full explanations and questions about a letter need Apple Intelligence; on Android, full explanations need Gemini Nano; in the browser extension, fuller explanations need Chrome's built-in AI. Without them, Briefklar uses its hand-written explanations. We develop Briefklar further and may change features. We can't guarantee that Briefklar is always available or free of errors.
6. Liability
As far as Swiss law permits, we exclude liability for damage resulting from the use of Briefklar, in particular from incorrect or incomplete explanations. This does not apply to damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Mandatory consumer protection rules remain unaffected.
7. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when Briefklar changes. The current version is published on this page with the date above.
8. Applicable law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Mandatory consumer protection rules remain unaffected.
