Which iPhone models are supported?
Briefklar runs on every iPhone model with iOS 26 or later – iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later. On all of them, Briefklar explains 20 common kinds of Swiss letters with hand-written explanations in 13 languages, finds deadlines, amounts and QR payment details and explains official terms, for free (“Basic reading”). Full explanations of every letter in plain language, and questions about a letter, need Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 and later, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings).
Are my letters uploaded?
No. Text recognition and explanations run directly on your iPhone. There is no account and no server. See the privacy policy.
How reliable are the explanations?
Briefklar checks deadlines and amounts against the scanned text: “Found in your letter” means the date appears word-for-word in the letter. If you see “Estimated” or “Please check”, look at the original letter. Briefklar can make mistakes and is not legal advice. For important decisions (e.g. objecting to a payment order), get professional help, for example from an advice centre in your municipality.
What's free, what does Pro cost?
Your first 3 full explanations with Apple Intelligence are free. After that, Briefklar Pro gives you unlimited full explanations and questions: CHF 3.99 a month, CHF 24.99 a year (1 week free for new yearly subscribers) or CHF 49.00 once – prices in Swiss francs including VAT, as charged by the App Store in Switzerland. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The hand-written explanations of 20 common kinds of letters, deadlines, amounts, reminders, QR payment details and the glossary always work for free, on every iPhone.
How do I restore a purchase?
In Briefklar: Settings → “Restore purchases”. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In Briefklar: Settings → “Manage subscription”. Or in the Settings app: tap your name → Subscriptions → Briefklar.
How do I get a letter from Mail into Briefklar?
Open the PDF attachment, tap Share and choose Briefklar. Or save it to Files and import it in Briefklar with the plus button.
I don't get reminders.
In the Settings app, check Notifications → Briefklar. In Briefklar's settings you can choose how early the first reminder arrives.
